First of all, in order to develop ASP.NET applications you must install Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000 Professional. For this, install Internet Information Services from Add/Remove Windows components. Also, all the relevant service packs along with security updates should be installed. Activate the Windows Internet Update. From the Windows Update section, you may select Microsoft .NET Framework. Once the download is over, the .NET framework would install itself on the computer. There are two major ways by which you can install PHP, i.e. either by using an installer or manually. However, it is relatively easier to install with the help of an installer. Once the installer has been installed you can now go ahead with the next step. First install the selected HTTP server on the system, and ensure that it works. You can select from the two types of installation that are supported, i.e. standard and advanced.
